SAMC242-SAMC-1838-COLLECTIVE---MARCH-2021-DIGITAL-G---SS21-DIAMOND-FIBRE-COLLECTIONS-PRESS-2-1

Last year saw local design studios Lukhanyo Mdingi, Judith Atelier and MmusoMaxwell showcase never-before-seen collections celebrating the luxury and versatility of mohair. Working with this extraordinary fibre to create contemporary, modern and refined trans-seasonal collections, The Diamond Fibre Collections were showcased at the first ever digital SAFW.

Now, off the back of the success of The Diamond Fibre Collections SS20, the designers are ready to return to SAFW to present their brand-new SS21 collections.

Lukhanyo Mdingi: The Coutts’ Collection

Paying a refined homage to the nuanced inner world of Nicholas Coutts, the renowned designer known for his hand-woven tapestries and textiles, Lukhanyo Mdingi will be presenting The Coutts’ Collection. In a poignant love letter to Coutts’ work and vision, Lukhanyo’s collection sees a creative use of textiles for bold, considered designs.

Judith Atelier: The Kwanzaa (Nguzo Saba) Collection

Taking inspiration from the harvest festival Kwanzaa and the accompanying 7 principles, Judith Atelier’s new collection applies Judith’s signature style to create soft, flowing pieces that accentuate the female form. Utilising innovative textiles and applications, the collections sees a celebration of versatility and sophistication.

MmusoMaxwell: SS21 Collection

A continuation of their IMBOKODO Collection, the first instalment of which was showcased at SAFW 2020, MmusoMaxwell’s SS21 collection comprises a renewed focus on carefully structured and tailored pieces. Pursuing functional and practical garments that complement the modern woman, this collection is inspired by African heritage and contemporary culture.

The Diamond Fibre Collections SS21 will be launching at SA Fashion Week on 30th April 2021.
